CNY Preparation 2020

The first
Saturday of January 2020, and in a few weeks’ time Chinese New Year is coming. Yup!
The mouse is coming home to celebrate! Squeak Squeak!
Btw, it’s
my sister’s year, coz she’s a mouse in her Chinese zodiac. (Mine was a rooster. What’s yours?) Seriously, have you
done your housekeeping yet? House-cleaning? Removing all the
rubbish from your closets with full of un-used clothes, pre-loves and what? Damaged
clothes? Yeah, you better keep your closet clean. Change your mattress, pillow-cases,
puffy blankets and wash away your “Chou Chou” (Bantal Busuk…Tapi still bau yang paling best sebelum tidur kan? Muahahaha.)
What
about the living room? Are there any cats/dogs poop/pees? Any dust-bunnies
underneath the couch? Were the tables properly wiped? TV filthy with dust? Ohhh
dust everywhere! Ahahahahah. Wait, what about the décor? Are there any fake red
plants? Money plants (Devil’s Ivy)?, Red lanterns? Door Couplets? Paper-cutting
of Luck & Happiness? Luck Poured-Out? Blooming Flowers?
FYI, I preferred
to have warm red lanterns hanging at the car porch surrounded with blooming
flowers. Maybe add some Chinese pendants and Chinese Paintings will go with everything
great in red.
Shopping!
(Walao, Bahasa melayu pulak nah.) Grocery
in a red tote bag is a good choice to give your close ones as blessing. Try to buy
healthy stuff, like oats, biscuits, old people’s snacks, what else…..kuaci and etc. Avoid sugary snacks (But
don’t, if you have kids.)
If you’re looking for affordable and comfy dresses,
you may try to check out PADINI and I am serious! My CNY 2020’s dress cost only
RM39 and I did not spend for new heels this time, because I’ll be using my 2019’s
Raya heels and it still looking good. I have completed my earrings and hair
(Still thinking, or otherwise after CNY will do….nvm, we still have time before
Raya 2020 kan?....)
For the guys,
I suggest you go G2000 where they have quality shirts that last for a longer
time?! I ain’t kidding yo.
Don’t
forget to prepare angpaos for your
love ones. Is important and a sign of giving your blessings. Please retain the Chinese
customs for our future generation. Avoid the techno-savvy world, bring back the
childhood stories to your kids and entertain them. For this coming CNY 2020, I would say I rather spend time talking with my cousins while playing board games like the Snake and Ladder, Jenga, Uno and etc. Try to avoid checking your mobile phones. The connection you need is in front of you, not the device.
Talking
about recipe? Okay. I have my own
family tradition which I am not going to share (secret lah, paiseh paiseh.).
This part would be referring to us, LADIES ahh. We must help the elders in the
kitchen! I used to go my aunt house to help with the rolling yams for next day’s
cooking after work. Although is tiring, but…it helps me to be productive and we
even talk about Hong Kong and Singapore Dramas.
Anyways, it is important to maintain
the tradition which we will continue bringing it to the future. What matters is
the family reunion/gathering and with delicious food, it makes us the more merrier
that can ever be. I love spending time with close one while sipping ice soda
and eating good food.
Ok…Looks like I exaggerate here.
See you in 2 weeks. But I’ll
be posting every Saturday as usual.
Thank you.
